How to improve your health, lose weight and prevent premature Aging.

Food is the one of the most important necessity of our lives. But yes, there are some people who eat to live while the others live to eat. The second half of the people who plan to live to eat always are the ones facing weight issues and obesity. Are you one of them too? Well, after a hell lot of hard work out and diet control, are the results satisfying? If not yet, read on to know the foods that can help you lose weight naturally to gain radiant health.

In general, your body requires everything to survive, from fats to carbohydrates, everything is essential for your body to function. If you cut down fats and sugar all of a sudden, the results will be shocking rather than pleasing. Our below mentioned tips will make you gain control and maintain your health in  vibrant vitality while aging gracefully.

1. Water – Scientist suggest that hunger is a state where body is in need of water. But of course, this does not mean that you shall entirely switch your diet to fluids and drinking only water. Doctors suggest that if your consume water all through the day for instance after your meals or in between your meals, it will be helpful. Drinking water helps the body to remove harmful toxins in the form of sweat and other ways. On the other hand, drinking water makes your skin look radiant, fresh and plum. However,go for water that is Alkaline as a lot of water that people take are often Acidic. This is true for many places that depend on underground water from  wells, boreholes as sources of drinking water. Water on its own is a very powerful healing agent all by itself.

2. Fruits – Eating whole fruits in between meals are the best choices you could ever make. Fruits are natural energizers and easily satisfy your hunger cravings. Also, if there are no fruits available, fruits juices (fresh) is the other option available. For instance, you can consume citrus fruits like oranges, grapes, pineapple, sweet lime, lemons to make you feel fresh and charged up. Fruits are rich in ENZYMES which some health authorities claim might hold the secret to longevity.

3. Roasted Meats – It is always considered to be a better alternative to consume roasted meat or non-vegetarian food. From fish foods to meats, you can roast it up and eat. By roasting the meat, all the fats in the meat are melted and burnt out, which in return leaves the entire fat-free meat for your consumption. Red meat as whole is not easy for the body to digest. This somehow puts considerable amount of strain on the body’s store of energy when consumed regularly. It is not completely true that everyone can maintain good health on a strictly vegetarian diet as proponents of this idea are trying to make out. Some people need some intake of meat in their bodies from time to time to maintain strength and vitality. The trick is to limit intake to very little quantity as  you age. One is able to determine this by how his body reacts afterward.

4. Eating Nuts – Nuts are other rich categorized foods which can help you in munching in between meals. If you feel a lot hungry while eating your daily meals, try eating nuts just 15 minutes before you eat your meal. Later, when you sit to have your lunch or dinner, you will feel less hasty and will enjoy the food rather than just stuffing the food in.

5. Grow your own healthy organic foods at home — Do you know that supermarket foods contain very strong chemicals that are seriously injurious to your health over time, leaving you constantly tired, weakened and often in a depressed state. A much better alternative is to grow organic vegetables at home. Foods you can grow in your own gardens are your best food. Foods grown locally are equally better for your health than those purchased from distance places. Preparing your meals at home is more preferable to eating out.

6. Body Detox — It is important to first eliminate the impurities in the body first through cleansing before moving to any health food diets or program.

7. Dally  Physical Exercises — You need to take time out for moderate physical exercises daily. this is important to strengthen the body through improved circulation. Ordinarily, our normal daily activities ought to be sufficient and able to provide us with enough daily exercise required for toning the body. This was the secret behind the extraordinary stamina the primitive man had in ancient times, because he did all things manually including covering great distances on foot. Most of these chores today are performed by modern man through application of suitable technologies. Over the last couple of centuries, man has become progressively weaker, and victims to host of opportunistic agents and parasites.

8. Creative Activities — Find something creative to do for others or your community in your spare times. This is a wonderful way to boost your creative powers and bring freshness and energy to yourself. This is particularly good for those who may have retired from active life.

9. Oxygen — Good intake of oxygen taken in daily is very essential for good health. Yet unknown to the average person, most of our urban cities suffer from severe oxygen depletion. To beat this this rap, find yourself a really nice place to do some deep breathing daily and regularly and watch your health improve by the day.

10. Fasting — Fasting helps the body to cleanse itself. Once or twice in a week take a break from regular intake  of  food if you can. If you find this impossible to do, you can do a partial fast on fruits or fruit juice for 24 hours. This is a very powerful way to bring about control over your own body.

These are little tips you can work with to bring back health, strength and vitality to your life.

THE TRUTH ABOUT NATURAL MEDICINE

The plain truth about natural medicine is that, it is an easier and safer route to good health than its orthodox counterpart. This many people have found out after a long and often  tortuous route back to good health. This statement is not in any way made to downgrade the importance and relevance of orthodox medicine and practice in today’s world. The fact remains that for very many people all over the world herbal remedies have proven to be magic healers of some sort. People of all races have come to depend on the medicinal healing powers inherent in plants for their survival. This old but new discovery about plants and herbs has been partly responsible for the growing interest in Plant medicines, Nutrition therapy, Energy medicine and the increasing interest in the use of Crystals and Gemstones for healing.

However, the practice of herbal medicine is as old as man on earth and was the main stay of most traditional cultures over the ages until the intervention of western style orthodox medicine and the destructive politics that came with it. Until few decades ago, herbal remedies were viewed with deep skepticism and even subject to persecution in many places. This is still the position in some countries due to organized negative publicity orchestrated by governments and public officials who have been so mislead by the medical establishments. We are happy and grateful today that herbal medicine has made a very powerful comeback partly due to its efficacy in the treatment of diseases in which orthodox medicine may have failed. Experience they say is the best teacher. You can try some for yourself.

Prominent philosophers and teachers from ancient times have left records for man about their herbal exploits. The great Greek philosopher Aristotle left a book on herbal formulas, recipes and prescriptions titled GOLDEN CABINET OF SECRETS (see Herbs the magic Healers by Paul Twitchell). The great Ayur Vedic system of medicine deals with several hundreds of herbs within the Indian sub continent and is several thousands of years old. The ancient Chinese also left humanity a compilation of thousands of herbs dating back over 5000 years or more. Some authorities have stated that perhaps the greatest legacy bequeathed to mankind by the Chinese may well be their compendium on herbal knowledge over the ages. Some traditional herbal remedies have also been used by orthodox researchers in the development of several modern drugs.

In his book ‘HERBS THAT HEAL’ H.K.Bakhru wrote as part of his intro, the following on how herbs are used:

Herbs are used in many different ways. However, the ultimate objective of their use is that they should interact directly with our body chemistry. They may be used in various forms like food, medicine, cosmetics, or fragrance but in all cases, their active constituents must be absorbed into the body for deriving the required benefits. Once they are absorbed in the bloodstream, they circulate to influence our whole system. The skill of the herbalist is to use this effect to balance and strengthen the body’s own healing mechanism instead of suppressing or disturbing it, as many modern drugs tend to do.

The active constituents of the herb can enter the body in several ways. These include consuming the herb orally so as to be absorbed by the digestive system, application on skin through medicinal poultices as well as cosmetics for being absorbed in the body through the pores; application on eyes through lotions and compresses; smelling the aroma through nose to enable the essential oil being absorbed in the bloodstream.

ROOT OF ILL-HEALTH AND DISEASES

Disease or ill-health is a state in which the physical body is no longer at ease with itself. This could range from a very minor bodily ailment to an extremely serious and acute health condition. Where the situation persists over a long period of time, the condition is classified as chronic. Such a condition sometimes terminates only at the death of the individual.
People move in and out of disease conditions all the time. No human being in flesh is exempt, although a few outstanding individuals scattered all over the world seems to enjoy good heath all their lives and live to very old age. However, for the generality of mankind today, ill-health has become one grave burden. The statistics are grim and really scary. Sometimes, you hear one in five or ten Americans will contract one form of cancer or the other before age 60 etc. In every front, the god of disease seems to be winning the battle. Diseases of yester years are coming back with vengeance. This is happening inspite of advances and breakthroughs in scientific and diagnostic methods. More and more powerful drugs including anti-biotic are being developed and deployed in the battle against emerging and resistant strains of disease causing bacteria of all kinds. The pharmaceutical companies declare huge profits in billons of Dollars each year from sales of manufactured drugs and other treatment protocols. In the circumstances under review one is tempted to ask:
Are we getting Healthier or Sicker? Your guess is as good as mine. The other problem is that in seeking to bring good Health to mankind, many practitioners whether in orthodox, Herbal and Alternative medicines actually work in ignorance of the underlying causes of diseases and ill-heath. Few know the elaborate spider web surrounding each case of ill health, and fewer still have the experience to handle cases that are brought before them. In addition, the truth of how the physical body really works is not completely understood. All of these are important and vital in finding solutions to the global problem of Disease control as well as the complete eradication of ill heath from our lives. Therefore, we shall address known and unknown causes of Diseases ravaging mankind today.
The following are generally viewed by Health Care Professionals and providers in the field; from the western trained physicians and specialists to the Native Healers, shamans and local medicine man as being responsible for all manner of ill health and sicknesses:
(1)         What we eat
(2)        Infections from other life form e.g. viruses, Bacteria, Parasites, etc.
(3)        Stress
(4)        Harmful radiation
(5)        Environmental pollution
(6)        Oxygen Deficiency in Urban settlements.
(7)        Your thoughts, words and Deeds.
(8)        Psychic Attacks and poisons
(9)        Karma, the law of Retributive justice and compensation

WHAT WE EAT:

“Good health is every man’s right, but no man will keep it if he is careless as to what he feeds his body and mind daily”
-         Paul Twitchell, “Herbs, the Magic Healers” P. 252.
There is an old saying that we are what we eat. The genesis of most of our ill-heath today started with the wrong feeding habits developed when we were children from parents who were more concerned and eager to please us with sweets, candy, cake, bread, biscuits etc. this we have carried over to our adult years and the attendant ill-heath, weakness and Disease. The emphasis here is to eat more of raw foods, cooked vegetables, fish, poultry, fruits and seeds.
On the other hand, consumption of whole lot of Unnatural foods and Drugs, Teas, Sugar, white flour products, chemicals will in time leave the physical body in very poor health. Diseases will flourish because the body’s natural defense mechanism would have been compromised. Poor Nutrition is one of the biggest threats today. What you eat also covers all manner of things you ingest or allow into your body. This is also true of an over indulgent life style, Alcohol, sex etc. The basic rules governing good nutrition are simple to follow. Just remember that fresh food, fruits and vegetable are better that frozen ones. The frozen ones are better than canned ones etc.

INFECTIONS:

From other life forms like Viruses, Bacterias and Parasites that feed on their victims, they destabilize the host organism in this case man, wrecking havoc in the body. The origins of some of these micro-organisms e.g. Viruses are still being debated. However, what we do know is that they often defend their territories by developing quick resistance to treatment, therefore calling for stronger and more powerful antibiotics most of the times. Any physical body already weakened by wrongful feeding habits will sooner or later be invaded by these organisms. Many of them like HIV, Herpes, staph, tuberculosis etc are deadly and remain largely incurable.

STRESS:

Stress comes from a host of unfulfilled desires, worries and anxiety that people go through daily. People are been driven to death installmentally through greed, success, positions, power and quest for crass materialism. Stress is one major proof that the present organization of the human society is faulty and dangerous to our health and well-being. Anxiety and other negative emotions occasioned by stressful living end up breaking down one’s immunity thereby paving the way for all manner of opportunistic diseases and infections of the body. Others are depression and mental in-balance. We cannot accept reliance on daily doses of pills and other anti-depressants manufactured by the pharmaceutical companies to calm our nerves. Solutions lie in following nature’s way. Our basic nature calls for a less complex societal organization. We must go back to the simplicity of living as our forefathers did. This will require bringing more Love into what we do. Please know it now that a life devoted to fulfilling material desires and sensual pleasure is toxic to your health anyhow.

HARMFUL RADIATIONS
Radiation emanates from just about any thing. We live in a sea of different radiations and not every one of these is harmless as we have being made to believe. Some of the harmful radiation comes from very unlikely sources. We have electromagnetic radiations from high voltage electric wires, telecommunication masts, computers and TV sets, GSM Handsets, and a host of other appliances we use daily and take for granted. The dangers posed collectively by these equipments are still being debated worldwide. These debates will continue until the businessmen who trade in these equipments agrees to tell the world the truth that these equipments actually posed some health risks. Some forms of cancers have being traced to them. Radiations are invisible and our individual responses to them different. The constitution of the individual plays significant role here in determining why some are susceptible, and others are not. There are also some harmful radiations from space coming onto the earth.

ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION.
Man has become very unkind to mother earth in recent times. We dump toxic waste from every corner of the world into our seas, oceans and rivers endangering others life forms and damaging the ecosystem. There have been numerous underground nuclear tests over the decades, Co2 emissions into the atmosphere from around the world, large-scale deforestation, oil drilling and the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides in farming in many parts of the globe. The resultant effect is that the earth is being rubbed of is vitality. Any danger posed to the earth is equally directed at man. Whatever happens to the earth is eventually passed onto its offspring; that is us and every other thing dwelling upon the earth. We can already see signs of these environmental diseases in many places on earth today- China, India, Russia, Pakistan, Latin America etc. Some years ago, in the 80’s there was the Saga of the Toxic waste dumped at Koko, a sleeping port town in the Niger Delta of Nigeria. Shortly after, many persons in that community fell victim to strange illness that culminated in the death of some of them. We must learn to live with ourselves in peace and respect for the environment. Our Ancestors worshiped the Earth in reverence for its fruitfulness, which was primal to their survival. We have a lot to learn from them.
OXYGEN DEFFICIENCY
All that we eat or ingest into the physical body by way of food, water, minerals, vitamins, drugs, herbs etc. constitute the negative element (-), while the Air we breath in, constitute the (+) element. This is in consonance with the law of Polarity that governs all phases of life in this world. The interaction of these two generates the energy the body needs for its survival and for the proper functioning of the human machine. So a depletion of Oxygen in our environment is inimical to good health and ultimate well being of man. Yet this is the situation in most of our urban settlements all over the world. In some communities and cities people actually breathe in much polluted air. And visibility in some cases reduced by excessive pollution. According to some Authorities and Ancient wisdom, the life giving property of the air is not necessarily the Oxygen, but what it carries or conveys to the body. This is the “life force”, the subtle current of life that creates, maintains and sustains all life forms and embodiments. Many of the miracles recorded from amongst Monks living in far-off monasteries in the Far East involve the use of specific exercises that manipulates the current of air flowing into the body system. Some live without physical foods and are able to retain youth and longevity for centuries. As the saying goes, some of the most important things in life are free. Our forests constitute the major oxygen factories for this planet, yet we allow for large scale deforestation in our communities to make way for the so called urban development. Plants and Trees not only generate oxygen, they also filter the atmosphere around them of harmful radiations and impurities.

OUR THOUGHTS, WORDS
Thoughts are things. A Thought form is pure energy in motion. Through our thoughts and words we create out world. Negative and sickly thoughts generate negatives and sickness to the physical body. An ancient adept once said that “Every thought inevitably solidifies into a future condition”. The way the world is now with all its conflicts, is as it should be, because we have made it so. There is an immortal classic on this subject by James Allen, AS A MAN THINKETH. You can find this wonderful book at www.AsAManThinketh.net. It speaks volumes.

PSYCHIC ATTACKS AND POISONS
These are subtle and invisible currents of energies and force fields that can be generated with the inherent power of the Human Mind or the uses of certain rare herbs and other materials to condense a peculiar force of energy that can be directed at an individual, a group or even communities. Contrary to public view, these very dangerous and subtle forms of attacks, not only exist but are quite prevalent in some communities scattered around the world. There are black adepts, psychic criminals, and other forms of organized evil in high and low places capable of transferring malicious thought forms to a target to achieve some evil aim. This can also be done through hypnotic suggestions to assail people’s dreams, cast spells or postulates to control the desired victim. Some victims wake up in the morning very weak and only to find bruises and other painful injuries all over their bodies. Peoples’ healths have been ruined this way, and inexperienced healthcare practitioners do have a hell of time figuring out what could possibly have gone wrong to no avail. Even, vital organs in an individual’s body can be made to fail using the power of the unseen terror; black magic as they are some times called. In extreme cases an individual’s body could be taken over by another discarnate entity. This is partly responsible for the increasing cases of mental disability, Depression and Nervous Breakdowns.
Psychic attacks are possible because of the power of the mind over matter and the inherent constitution of man. Man is a composite being with several multidimensional bodies fused with his physical body. He has the Emotional, Memory, Mind and Subconscious bodies also within and each with its own peculiar attributes. This is all that can be shared here for now.

KARMA AND THE LAW OF RETRIBUTION
I have reserved this segment for last because it summarizes the whole fundamental causes of human problems including Diseases and ill-health, good and bad fortunes etc.
In the light of our understanding, all the previous causes of Diseases and ill health so far discussed would be meaningless without understanding the Nature of Karma and how it operates, because all the issues so far raised are simply manifestations of different faces of this ancient and inexorable law of life. Karma, the law of cause and effect is the root cause of all forms of ill health and its varied manifestations in man and the human communities.
Karma refers to cause and effect or compensation. It is the law that brings to the doer the legimate consequences of his or her actions. It is a law that is no respecter of persons, status, positions, king or queen. Everyone is paid ultimately his dues. Ill health and disease conditions prevalent in the life of man, is one way nature compels one to take stock of his weakness or defects of character. Every transgression will be paid for and how you pay will determined by life in its infinite wisdom. Sicknesses, ill-health as well as all physical and mental handicaps constitute ways people are compelled to pay for their karmic debts. Karma is also tied up with Reincarnation which is the constantly ongoing cycle of death and rebirth. Karma and Reincarnation are realities that constitute part of the cycle of life for everyone. We are our own Ancestors. The same people of history, in times past. But now in new and different bodies, through the process of rebirth. Karma and Reincarnation relates in principle to the development of character and right values in the individual. Both together offers humanity, a sound basis for understanding the countless irregularities we find in life. In the words of the ancient Tibetan Adept Rebazar Tarz in the book, Stranger By The River, by Paul Twitchell.
“Life is but a perpetual balancing of accounts. Man dies leaving behind many unsettled accounts. Some are debits, some are credits; man is debited with the evil he does and credited with the good he does. Therefore, he must return again to this world to pay and collect”.
For these and other reasons not mentioned here, man and the health industries will continue for a long while yet to deal with the challenges posed by ill health, sicknesses (of mind and body) and diseases. Hence, as part of the health care system in many parts of Africa and other places, practitioners resort to divinations and other means to figure out the actual cause of a persistent ill health and a host of other pernicious conditions. This practice often involves digging up dirts in the individual’s past lives and the present lessons or challenges he faces. So, trying to get rid quickly of a challenging health situation is not really a solution as experiences in Western medicine has proven time and time again. The health industries today thrive on recurring ill-health and disease conditions across the world.
Suffice it to say here that, there are other methods of delving into  past lives other then the method of divination mentioned here. But very few people are acquainted with the modus operandi of the illuminated path. For more information on the twin issues of karma and Reincarnation go to www. Rythmsandriddles. com.
To conclude this article I quote from Nature power (By Anselm Adodo, a Benedictine Monk, Ewu, Nigeria). On page 36 of this Book he wrote the following under the subtitle THE HUNGER OF THE WORLD: “We have only one problem: Lack of Love. Our problem is not lack of power, or lack of leadership or lack of money. Our problem is lack of love. And there is only one solution to all our problem – Love. The world is sick due to lack of that Love. The fruits of this lack of love are divisions, strife and violence. Look around you. What do you see? Angry faces, hungry stomachs, broken families, warring nations. The image one gets is that of a people who are not at peace within themselves and with one another”.

Herbs – The Magic Healers

By Ben Anyaeji (First published in the Sunday Times of 08-06-1986, Nigeria)

In this article, I shall discuss herbs and show how they can be used in
many ways including healing.
One of nature’s ways of healing is by means of herbs. Our forefathers learnt the efficacy of herbs first by watching what animals eat. Many plants animal eat are also good for human beings. But this is not true in all cases.

Dogs rarely eat grass. Whenever a female dog eats, you know it is pregnant and does not want to abort or miscarry. The same grass, boiled and taken as tea, can also be used to prevent miscarry. It can also be used to confirm pregnancy in human beings. Modern medicine use hormone level in the blood as an index to confirm pregnancy.

This is not valid in all cases. There were many cases where pregnant woman went for laboratory tests. The results were negative. When these same women took the laboratory tests again, they were found to be positive. This is one of the limitations of
modern medicine.

A police officer came to see me with his wife who had been carrying a pregnancy since eighteen months. I advised her to take this grass-tea for one week, she did. When she returned for pregnancy tests, she was said to be pregnant. The same tests were negative nine months earlier. This is one of the cases where witches interfere with pregnancy. This can happen if they use astral forms to have sexual intercourse with the pregnant woman in the dream. They can also suppress the growth of the foetus in the womb through suggestions in hypnotic trance during the dream.

Elemental beings like gnomes are responsible for the growth of herbs. They also control ecological zones. Certain plants are extinct; some are growing now and will be extinct in future. Many plants we do not know now will appear in future. There is a garden in the astral plane where all species of plane exist as prototypes, some existed in the past, others exist now and there are many that will come in the future. Science through the study of genetics can now  produce different species of plants.

I traveled extensively in Europe and America between 1975 to 1982 where I found extensive work done on plants genetics. The Swiss specialize in horticulture, the Italians in intensive farming while the Israeli turn the desert into a land flowing with milk, honey, fruits and cereals. A lot of work is being done on this line in Nigeria. In many of our plants research institutes. Little use is made of the fruit of these researches due to lack of vision. Food is cheapest in America due to heavy investment in agriculture, research and agricultural economics.

In Nigeria, even till today, the knowledge of herbs is the exclusive preserve of native doctors. They guard the secret so jealously. Because of this, much vital information about herbs were lost. This was partly because the old did not trust the young and would not accept responsibility for any abuse of this sacred knowledge. Some pass this secret from father to son from adept to student by word of Mouth and sometimes under oath.
Besides, herbalists in the village belong to a privileged respected few, as a result of which their opinions are often sought on vital issues; their words are often words of wisdom. This was before the commercial, know-all advocates.

I learnt about herbs at the feet of my father from the age of seven to twenty – one years. Later, a Tibetan master taught me herbs for ten years in the Astral garden. Afterwards, I found out that the knowledge of herbs is the same. It is guarded jealously by the Masters of Arcane knowledge. A greater part of this knowledge can only be learnt in the dream state. I learnt how to tone in to the level of consciousness of any plant and learn its secrets, how to communicate with a herb and ascertain chemical components without touching the plant. I have just initiated a project with two friends, one a Research Fellow in Botany and the other in pharmacology. We hope to collect three hundred specimens of Nigerian plants, classify them, analyze them and test their application in curative medicine.

Many fools say that the efficacy of herbs is superstitious; others say that from religious point of view, the use of herbs is pagan and devilish. This is one of the grievous harms imported religions have done to our native culture. It is the duty of a few who care to redress this vain posture. It has now become the vogue in the so-called civilized countries to go back to nature’s way; they are now learning to lean heavily on herbs. They have come to know that herbs alone hold the key to the cure of incurable diseases like asthma, epilepsy, diabetes, high blood pressure and hormone imbalance.

One of my friends, a consultant engineer, was bed-ridden for one week. He could not walk. His two legs were swollen with excruciating pains. They call it a rich man’s sickness.

His doctor exhausted all medical jargons to describe his dilemma, yet he could not walk. Too much grammar spoils works. His old father came from home. He sat through the night vigil watching his son die slowly. It was at this stage he sent items from a department store. She officiated as the
Medicine woman while I played the part of an instructor. My friend took a spoonful of the preparation at 9p.m. he walked to the toilet first time in eight days at 1 a.m. In the morning, he visited some of his clients. Five days later; he attended a business conference in Canada. That was the end of a sickness that was becoming incurable.

The ancients were wise men. They knew so much and talked so little because they understood the law of silence. And silence is power. It is also one of their ways of guarding secret knowledge from the profane and inquisitive. They look with their two eyes open and perceive not; they listen with their two ears open and hear not.

For fourteen years. I worked closely and painstakingly with my late father. He never told me the use of any herb but he was a task master. He would send me on impossible missions. He would look at me steadily as I return and continue his work. Through sweat, toil and privation we forged a bond that persisted even after his death. Later, he offered me money, land and wealth which I rejected. When he asked me what I wanted; I said; “bless me if you like”. Moved with compassion, he asked me to kneel down. He placed his hands on my head, muted a word and breathed on my fore-head. Thus he imparted all he knew to me without saying a word. What I wanted to know I could retrieve from dreams and later from the light. I can confer the same power to any of my children or to any friend I trust.

Herbs have a space and a personality that must be acknowledged and respected. They are soul in form just like you and me. To be aligned with the power they command, you must first salute them, come to terms with them and beg them to be enlisted to your service. Here lies the difference between an adept at herbs and a charlatan. Having done this, you pluck it with respect and use it with dignity. It is then and then only will the herb be efficacious.

A young man brought his son to me. He coughed all night long; their doctor said it was a fit of asthma. He might overgrow it. The young man was worried because it was not in his blood. Even before me, the boy was breathing with difficulty. We walked to a plant in front of my apartment. I told him to smile at the plant before plucking only seven leaves and add water up to half a bottle full.

A dosage of one spoonful in the morning and at night saw the fit through in three days. They boy returned after a week to say thank you. There was joy of relief on his face. I was very happy too because I prove my theme.

The secret of the power of herbs also lies in service of the whole. A good herbalist needs not advertise his trade. His work speaks for him. One cannot even make money from the service except a token gift as a form of exchange. I am always amused by people who claim to be healers of all diseases and sickness. They compel their clients to pay through  their teeth for a token platitude. I wish them luck; they will pay dearly for it. They may end up begging for daily meals or they may be victims of such sickness that no one can cure or they may beg for death to come in vain.

A young man married for ten years and had no child. A doctor said he was impotent. I advised him to bring his wife. Looking at her magnetic field, I knew she was alright. I told them to take a sort of fruit salad and come back to in three months. He came back to say that the wife as well as the girl friend was pregnant: it was funny to see him sitting on the floor, a way of expressing his respect and gratitude.
His doctor, a professor, sent me a letter of invitation for an interview. How can he understand? For me, I did not read book very far. I am worried when grammar begins to climb tree. The man is a father of two boys now. That was all the proof I can give.

My late father specialized in treating sick children, infertility in men and women and looking after pregnant women from the month of conception to birth I inherited that mantle and more.
There is a herb to confirm pregnancy. From the sixth week, another herb helps to develop the foetus up to six months. Then a series of carefully prepared medicine can see the lady through labour to delivery. The size of the baby can be controlled in the womb; the weight of the mother together with the blood pressure can also be taken care of. There is a herb to initiate labour within one hour. I know there are men of little minds who will laugh at this.

A child can even be immunized in the womb against polio, convulsion and virus infections.
There is a wonder herb in my garden. It heals all virus infections;
measles, chicken pox, small pox and so on. It also takes care of cerebral malaria which is responsible for madness in many psychiatric cases.

Once a young girl was brought to me. She had been discharged from a mental hospital three times with recurrent lapses. She had taken so much sleeping tablets that she became addicted to them. I was moved by the fact that such a young beautiful girl could be a victim of such malady at such a tender age. She was eighteen. She took this wonder herb for two weeks and went back to school. She is taking her school certificates now.

Some leaves can be taken raw; others have to be boiled before use. In some plants, the leaves stem and root may be used to cure different ailments. Some are poisonous and have to be mixed with others before use.

The Magic Power of Herbs

By Ben Anyaeji

(First published in the Sunday Times of 15-06-1986, Nigeria)

In this article, I intend to discus the magic power of herbs. Under normal circumstances, a person can perceive sensation with the help of the five senses. One can see with the two eyes, feels, taste, hear and smell. Occult science attempt to broaden man’s scope of perception through graduated exercises repeated daily over a long period of time. This can easily be achieved through herbs. There is a common herb, which can be used to open the spiritual eye. A slight cut is made at the forehead; the herb is robbed between the two palms. It is then squeezed between the first and the second thumb and the green juice applied on the cut as the patient closes the two eyes. This same herb can be used to induce conscious out-of-body experience through the dream state.

Few herbalists know this herb. They rarely use it. Witches achieve the same process through initiation under hypnotic trance in their coven. With the third eye open, one can see beyond time and space, see the magnetic field surrounding each person known as the AURA, perceive subjective entities either elemental or otherwise. When this is done out of impure motives or mere curiosity, one’s vision is restricted to the lower astral plane by the guardians of the inner planes. Jesus warned against taking the kingdom of Heaven by violence. He knew the danger inherent in being aware of the inner planes without discipline and due preparations.

Farmers and hunters sometimes come across a rare herb in the bush. When a person’s body touches this shrub, he looses conscious awareness of himself and his surrounding. He wanders about the bush in waking trance away from people’s presence. The person may be lost for days and die of thirst, hunger, and utter exhaustion or be killed by wild animals. When this happens, a search party is organized to find the person. Then, a hunter or a herbalist who knows, get the antidote, a herb. When this is properly applied, the victim regains conscious awareness again. The natural power of this herb is used to hypnotize people against their wish. In this condition, they can be induced to do what they cannot do under normal circumstances. An innocent person can be turned into a criminal, a juvenile delinquent or even kidnapped.

A boy of fourteen fell into a bad company. He was taken to the ringleader of a group who put him under hypnotic trance and taught him how to steal in many ways without knowing it. He went home and gradually empty his mother’s boxes, removed her chest of trinkets and precious stones. In each case, he would loot to the leader in their rendezvous. He would give him a pittance as a reward and a token praise as a good boy. This remained a puzzled for a long time until the riddle was solved. When the boy led his parents to the ring leader, he claimed innocence. He later evacuated his well-furnished apartment and disappeared. It reminds me of David Copperfield by Charles Dickens.

I know a rare tree that grows in the bush usually in the deciduous forest zone. It is a condenser of electromagnetic field. No other plant grows at a distance of one hundred yards radius around it. Any animal that moves into this forbidden zone when it is active drops dead. Only a few herbalists know this tree and how the power works. At a certain time of the day, it shrinks the magnetic flux and becomes dormant. At this time, eagles and vultures can mate on the branches. The fruit, leaves, branches; bark and roots exhibit different powers. The branch can be used to generate high voltage electric power and direct as thunderbolt to any direction. It was used in warfare in olden days. The root is used to cure all incurable diseases. The seed protects one against witches, entities and all psychic attacks. Any wish directed to the plant when the electromagnetic field is active, materializes at once. This plant is becoming extinct now since man has become more lustful, unpredictable and vain. As long as a woman uses the seed of this plant to protect herself, she cannot have a child. But the leave can make a barren man or woman potent.

A herb has the power of driving away snakes. Witches cannot enter any premises where it grows. When the fruit of another plant is dried with the seed and burnt at night, it emits an aroma and achieves the same effects as well as keeping all negative entities at bay. There is a common herb that gives knowledge of anything to a person who knows how to use it. It is usually plucked at night before sleep, dipped in water and a leaf pasted on the forehead. The person lies down face up. He puts the attention on the forehead and says silently what he wants to know in the dream. He will fall asleep and in the dream he would know what he wants to know.

At present, I am conducting research with seven university dons all over the country and with many others all over the world. We would go into the inner world in the dream state to certain planes where certain knowledge is hidden. Some of them will remember what they experience vividly when they wake up and write them down. Some may forget what they learn when they wake up. But these can be buried in their sub-conscious mind as residual knowledge. They simmer up to the surface in moments of silence and quiet as flashes of inspection.

I came across an electronic circuit in one of such excursions. When I woke up, I drew it and passed it to one of the professors with an instruction to study the applications. It turned out to be a circuit for a field polarizer that can be used to produce a vast amount of energy very cheaply. The problem now is how to contain the energy so produced, store it and use it. This is in the womb of time. It was achieved with the help of the herb mentioned earlier. In the olden days, during tribal wars, warriors used a herb to become invisible to their opponents and to dangerous animals. Sometimes a lion or leopard may invade a village. It kills domestic animals and human beings as well. I know a plant, which experienced hunters put in their mouth to become invisible to such predators. They would come near and shoot them at close range. Then they kill them after cutting the heads and tails.

The Fulanis use herbs to shield their cattle from dangerous animals. When in danger, they can disappear with their herd and reappear at considerable distance away from the danger. They use flogging to dare a young man prove that he can take care of a woman in marriage in the Shiro Dance ceremony. The Massai tribes in Kenya have a different approach. For a young man to take a wife in marriage, he has to go into the bush alone for days. At the end, he has to prove his manhood by producing the head and tail of a lion he has killed to the family of his spouse. Then only can he be acknowledged as a man worthy of a woman.

When I was young, my father introduced me to one of his friends. He could attend meetings in towns many miles from his home by instant projection. If he chooses to travel by foot to another town for fun, he could cross a big river instantly just by willing to do so with a leave in his mouth. With a certain herb, a person can be made to forget things easily. Witches use it to induce dullness in young people. Another herb can induce fast memory and recollection.

In the olden days before the advent of surgery, the elders have a way of delivering a child in breach posture before birth. In this situation, the mother ran the risk of dying with the child after much fruitless ordeal. In a situation like this, I had seen a herbalist call the husband of the patient to explain the danger that would follow. He persuaded the husband to name the unborn child. With a leave in his mouth and his two hands placed on the woman’s stomach, he called the name of the child. The baby was delivered instantly.

Herbs can be used to immune a person against cuts from a cutlass, arrow and spear. Herbs can also make someone bullet proof. The problem is that a person so immured may run the risk of being clubbed to death or buried alive when captured in warfare or even burnt alive. The other is that the person cannot undergo operation through surgery unless the effect is neutralized with an antidote. There is one for it.

Black adepts can used a herb to cast a spell on a person. They can also use it to curse a person. This introduces an extraneous factor in the person that may not augur well for his progress. Another herb can be used to neutralize this situation when a person uses the herb to bathe. The same herb can be used to bless a person, a group of people, an institution or a system.

I witnessed an occasion when a young man abused an elder. He did not stop there. He went further to slap the elder and asked him what he could do. The elder told the young man to continue beating a concrete wall. This the young man did until his fists bled and he fainted with exhaustion. The old man was sent for and begged until he let the young man so with a word.

To protect a premise; a herb can be used to condense a postulate. When buried at the entrance, the premise is protected against thieves and intruders. The postulate may demand that the thief sits down quietly until he is arrested. He may also carry things out and into the premises until he is arrested. It depends on the wish of the owner of the premises.

A friend was building a house in his hometown. Some elements in the town were not happy about this. This herbal condenser was used and buried at the entrance to the compound. A rival relation of his came at 2 a.m. to bury a preparation in the premises. As soon as he got to the entrance, he became blind. He stood there and begged passersby to show him the house of my friend. They raised an alarm. Other people came out and caught him red handed with what he was carrying. He confessed. When he was led back to his car, a hundred yards away, he regained his sight. He went on voluntary exile from the village and later returned. Another person came to the same compound with evil intention and fell down seven times. He went home in shame.

Certain herbs can be used to cause rainfall. They are cast in a huge flame and burnt. The smokes rise to the sky, compelling vapour in the air to condense fast. In a short time, the rain comes down in a deluge. This method of artificial rainfall may cause thunder storm during dry season. Sometimes thunderbolt may cause lightening in the area. In the same way, certain herbs can be used to prevent rainfall in the rainy seasons. Knowledgeable herbalists make fast money out of this during weddings, burial ceremonies and chieftaincy installations in the village. If the gods permit, I intend to introduce a new dimension to the physics of Dielectrics by using herbs to produce different wave patterns. This also is in the womb of time. There is so much to do and so little done.

My forebearer was one of the heirs to the throne of Ata of Igala in Ida. He was a giant with six fingers and toes. He was an adept at herbs. Being adventurous and restless in nature he roamed the River Niger from Ida to Aboh fishing, fighting and colonizing. When he was about to die; he summoned all the powerful herbalists around. They fasted for forty days and nights. Then he stood at his shrine Ogulugu, uprooted the huge cotton tree with his hands. He stood the huge tree upside down, the branches down and the roots upwards. It still stands like that till today. He then raised his ‘two hands to the east surrounded the shrine, himself and the congregation with a dense fog. He vanished into the thin air. His body was never buried.
